Landlords have found a new way to get around the rent cap: creating "no pet" clauses, forcing renters to move.
Once a renter and their pet moves out, the rent cap no longer applies and landlords can increase the rent as much as they want.
With less than 1 percent vacancy in many parts of the province, people can't find new homes with their pets and are forced to sleep in tents and cars or give up their pets.
